Ortophtalic polyester resin of medium reactivity, thixotropic and acelerated, specifically conceived for the use in the pleasure boat sector for construction and maintenance of boats in general. It can be used in combination with glass fibre (Matting sheets). Provides quick hardening and low exothermicity.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION SYSTEM

Preparation: The resin is recommended for the construction of large sized reinforced plastic structures. Thanks to its low sagging characteristics it can be easily applied also on sloped surfaces. The presence of a special additive in the formulation – turning the resin from a blue-greenish colour to yellow brown once activated – allows a careful control of fot the even distribution of its activator ( methyl-ethyl-keton-peroxide) during application. A longer storage of the product will cause the thixotropic agent to separate; in such case a very good stirring of the resin before use would be required in order to restore the homogeneity of the product.

Cut off the required quantity of glassfibre (matting tissue), pour the necessary quantity of resin in a small vessel and then add the activator in the recommended ration (2 grams of activator for each 100 grams of resin); stirr thoroughly the mixture of resin+activator and apply the product within 10 minutes.

Impregnation purpose: Degrease with acetone or nitrocellulose thinner the surface to be coated. Apply one coat of activated resin. Apply the glassfibre (matting tissue) on the wet surface and impregnate it with more resin by means of a brush. If a stronger resistance is required apply another piece of glassfibre (matting tissue). The repair process is completelyt dry after a few hours (20°C). Brush and stains of activated resin can be removed with nitrocellulose thinner or with acetone before the resin will harden.
