Two-component gloss polyurethane varnish with outstanding flowing characteristics for brush or spray application on wooden boats. Formulated with UV filters for long term resistance in marine environment. Gives a clear gloss non yellowing finish recommended for a professional brush or spray finish. SPACE CLEAR UV is part of the SPACE TOP LINE, including a range of special additives helping product application in the most severe conditions.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE

New or restored bare Wood.
- In order to obtain “closed-pore” smooth surface, apply two coats of POLIGLASS or SPACE CLEAR varnish diluted up to 50-100% (according to wood absorption). If the pores on the wood is coarse, a third coat, less diluted, may be required. Let dry for 12-16 hours, sand with fine abrasive-paper and apply 2-3 coats of SPACE CLEAR UV allowing 24 hours between coats.
- On the other hand, if a surface with “open-pore” is desired, apply a single coat of POLIGLASS or SPACE CLEAR UV thinned 50-100%, (according wood absorption). Let dry for 12-16 hours, sand with fine abrasive-paper and apply 2-3 coats of SPACE CLEAR UV allowing the required waiting time between coats.

Previously Varnished Wood.  Sand thoroughly and dust off the old varnish. If the old varnish was a 2-component polyurethane, just apply two or three coats of SPACE CLEAR UV allowing 24 hours between coats.. If the old paint is of unknown origin, it is advisable to test a small patch of the coated surface to verify if SPACE CLEAR UV  is compatible with the old varnish and to make sure that the old coating is still in sound condition. If there are no problems, proceed with 2-3 coats of SPACE CLEAR UV. Otherwise, in the case of loose, powdery or non-compatible old varnish, it is recommended that the old varnish should be stripped completely down to bare wood with a paint-remover or by scraping and sandpapering. Then follow the application directions as suggested for bare wood.
*Recoat time after a minimum waiting period of 6-8 hours can only be of 2 coats (1+1), after which it is recommended to allow at least 24 hours before applying further coats of varnish. This is because the product (containing slow drying solvents) in order to provide an even flowing of the varnish film needs more time than conventional products to fully evaporate.

Note_The recommended number of  coats for each varnish  is only indicative; the number of coats effectively required mostly depends by wood absorption. For bare new wood we recommend  the application of at least 10 coats in total of Poliglass and Space Clear UV.  For the restoration of old varnishes brought back to bare wood, the application of at least 6-8 coats is recommended.
